About the Icelandic Guitar Academy

The Icelandic Guitar Academy has been open since June 1993. Instruction is provided for acoustic guitar, classical and folk guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, and double bass, in addition to music theory subjects. Instrument instruction takes place in private lessons and music theory in group classes, tailored to each student's interest and ability.
At the Icelandic Guitar Academy, numerous qualified and well-educated teachers strive to provide instruction that fits the interest and ability level of each student, with the goal of achieving good results and progress for all.

Education is offered according to the curriculum of the Ministry of Education. The study programs include classical and jazz/rock tracks, along with music theory subjects. The school also offers courses in the fall semester for 12 weeks and in the spring semester for 12 weeks. In June, there are also crash courses where two lessons per week are taught over a total of 4 weeks. All courses are taught in private lessons. Along with instrument lessons, it is possible to receive instruction in songwriting, sound recording, and sound processing. Everyone is welcome to the courses, beginners and advanced, of all ages.
