Data protection
Reykjavík City has a legal duty to ensure the welfare of all residents. A big part of this is consulting with various groups. According to Article 102 of the Local Authorities Act No. 138/2011, city residents have the right to influence municipal governance, including through participation in resident councils. The "Young Leaders" project aims to give young people of foreign origin a chance to be heard. All personal data processing serves the public interest. It creates new opportunities for young people of foreign origin. The processing is based on Item 5 of the first paragraph of Article 9 of the Data Protection Act No. 90/2018, cf. Item 2 of Article 102 of the Local Authorities Act. The processing is also based on participant consent, cf. Item 1 of the first paragraph of Article 9 and Item 1 of the first paragraph of Article 11 of the same Act.
The office only processes personal information provided by participants. To apply, participants must provide their name and ID number. Reykjavík City ensures appropriate measures are in place for all personal data processing to protect the rights of the registered individual. You have the right to know if Reykjavík City processes your personal data and to receive a copy of that data. You may object to the processing of your personal data. If you believe Reykjavík City is processing incorrect personal data about you, you have the right to have it corrected. If incorrect or incomplete personal data is recorded in this survey, which legally cannot be deleted, a description correcting the information will be added to the existing records if requested in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
Please note that Reykjavík City is obligated to preserve personal data in accordance with the Public Archives Act No. 77/2014. Personal data will not be shared without participant consent.
