City Hall is home to the City Council and the Mayor of Reykjavík, as well as other administrative offices.
Office of the Mayor & Chief Executive Officer
The Office of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer has several core functions: serving the offices of the mayor and Chief Executive Officer, supporting the mayor's priority initiatives, overseeing coordination within the administration, managing projects citywide, and coordinating policy development for Reykjavík City.
Office of the City Council
The Office of the City Council handles all administration for the City Council, City Executive Council, Presidium, and various other committees. This includes receiving and handling documents, preparing meetings, such as the drafting and distribution of agendas, conducting meetings, including the minute-taking, and providing advice to the Chair and other members. Its duties also include finalizing documentation, announcing decisions on official matters, publishing minutes, and providing information to the public.
Human Rights Office
The Human Rights Office implement the decisions of the Human Rights Council. The Council acts under the authority of the Reykjavík City Executive Council and develops policies, makes decisions, and makes recommendations to the Council on Human Rights and Violence Prevention.
City Attorney
The City Attorney represents the City of Reykjavík and its agencies on legal matters. The City Attorney serves as the City’s lawyer and legal representative and draws up contracts on behalf of the City.
Communications and Events Office
The Communications and Events Office develops policy for communications and information while providing coordinated and reliable information about Reykjavík City and its operations. The office also manages the city's major events.
