Stay Smart

Stay Smart

Reykjavík City runs a campaign called Stay Smart that delivers positive messages to youth and their immediate family about spending time together and living a healthy lifestyle.

Fall is just around the corner, when schools reopen and children and young people get back to their studies.

Family time is one of the most important things when it comes to children and young people's well-being. Research shows that young people who spend quality time with their parents and receive support are more likely to live healthy lifestyles.

The Stay Smart campaign focuses on being smart and showing each other respect, empathy and support.

The Stay Smart campaign is part of a larger initiative by Reykjavík City that aims to increase cooperation with parents and strengthen prevention education for young people, thereby countering negative trends in alcohol and substance use and violence among children.

Stay Smart is a call to the entire community to lead by good example and focus on positive time together and good communication.

Think with our hearts

It's important for youth to understand that they influence society through their behavior and actions.

The Stay Smart campaign draws attention to how incredible our youth are. At the same time, it's important to remember that part of growing up means having a positive impact on those around us, treating people well and being kind to others.

Parenting is a responsibility where parents are at the helm. Raising an individual involves positive communication, clear messaging, giving praise, showing discipline and respecting boundaries. This way, children and young people get clear messages about their role and impact on society. Stay Smart and show each other respect, compassion and support.

Stay Smart and think with our hearts, not just our heads.
