Description:
Regulation to reduce the number of cars and trucks that use fossil fuels in Iceland.
This action is part of the new Climate Action Policy (CAP) by Icelandic authorities and is essential for meeting emissions targets.
Emissions can be reduced through the following steps:
- Percentage of vehicles on land with renewable energy sources: 66,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent
- Rental cars with clean energy sources: 86,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent
- Phase-out of gasoline and diesel cars: 33,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent
Total emissions reduction = 199,000 x 0.36 = 71,640
