Reykjavík Citizens’ Convention 2025

An open Citizens’ Convention is scheduled for September 6 from 10am to 12:30pm at Tjarnarsalur, Reykjavík City Hall. This year’s Citizens’ Convention will focus on how Reykjavík can become a carbon-neutral city.

Program

10-10:10am. Opening of the Citizens’ Convention
Heiða Björg Hilmisdóttir, Mayor, will open the convention and welcome participants.

10:10-10:25am. Presentation on Reykjavík City’s Climate City Contract
Presented by Hrönn Hrafnsdóttir, Head of the Climate Division.

10:25am- 12pm. Group discussions
Advisors from Arcur will explain the format for the group discussions, after which groups will begin their work.

12-12:30pm. Summary
A very brief overview of the main discussion points and viewpoints that emerge during the table discussions.

The convention will feature breakout sessions, with discussions divided into four categories:

  • Reykjavík as a Walkable City
  • Reykjavík the bicycle city
  • Reykjavík as an Outdoor City
  • Reykjavík as a City of Public Transit

The Citizens’ Convention will be conducted in Icelandic, but those who need language assistance can email lydraedi@reykjavik.is.
