Operating permit proposal - Íslenska Gámafélagið at Kalkslétta 1, waste reception facility, waste transport, and hazardous waste transport

Reykjavík Public Health has prepared an operating permit proposal for Íslenska Gámafélagið at Kalkslétta 1 due to operational changes. This involves a waste reception facility, waste transport, and hazardous waste transport. The change involves authorizing the operator to recycle glass waste. The proposal recommends that the operation be subject to: operating permit requirements for Íslenska Gámafélagið for waste reception at Kalkslétta 1, waste transport, and hazardous waste transport; general operating requirements from the Reykjavík public health committee for polluting activities; standardized requirements for hazardous waste transport; and operational requirements for waste transport, excluding international waste transport and hazardous waste transport. The proposed validity period is 12 years. Proposal documents are available on the Reykjavík Public Health website,https://reykjavik.is/public-announcement-of-proposed-operating-permits, from May 5 to June 6, 2025. During this period, the public is invited to submit comments and feedback on the draft permit. Comments must be submitted in writing to Reykjavík Public Health at Borgartún 12-14, 105 Reykjavík or by email to heilbrigdiseftirlit@reykjavik.is.
