Open call
Visual artists are invited to participate in the pre-selection for a closed competition for artwork in public spaces in Vesturvin at the Héðinn site in Vesturbær, Reykjavík.
Reykjavík City and lot owners are collaborating on art creation in the area to enhance the quality and environment in the city, with a total amount of up to 16 million ISK.
Competition description
The Héðinn site is bordered by Vesturgata, Ánanaust, Mýrargata and Seljavegur but the competition area is the large inner courtyard of the buildings in Vesturvin (Vesturgata 64).
The Reykjavík Art Museum oversees the competition, which follows the competition rules of the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists (SÍM), that is, a closed competition with an open pre-selection.
A pre-selection committee will choose three visual artists from submitted applications to participate in the second part of the competition.
Pre-selection
Those wanting to participate in the prequalification for the competition should send one PDF document. Label it with the applicant's name and "Vesturvin".
The document should include the following information:
- Resume with detailed information about artistic career, name, ID number, address, phone number and email
- 5 photographs of previous works
- Text: A short text discussing the applicant's experience, skills, interests and qualifications for creating artwork in public spaces is permitted (maximum 200 words).
Maximum size of PDF file is 10 MB.
The project manager confirms receipt of applications and their compliance with the above requirements.

The application deadline is October 16, 2024.
