SORPA bs.
SORPA bs. is a regional partnership that operates under a foundational agreement from February 15, 1988, with subsequent amendments. Its purpose is to undertake waste disposal for its founding members.
The following municipalities are members of the regional partnership: Reykjavík City, Garðabær, Hafnarfjörður, Kópavogur, Mosfellsbær, Seltjarnarnes, and Álftanes Municipality.
The regional partnership's Board is composed of one representative from each member municipality, who must be a representative in the respective municipal council or the municipality's executive director. Alternates are appointed in the same manner.
The Board's term of office is for two years from the start of the municipal councils' term. The chairmanship rotates among the member associations. Board members hold a proportional voting weight in accordance with the population of each municipality.
