Reykjavík City will waive preschool fees for children in City-run preschools during certain periods in the 2024-2025 school year.
Attendance is optional on these days. Parents must register their children if they need care. Registration for the upcoming fall break opens 9am Thursday, September 26.
Parents must register children within the advertised deadline. If not registered, the child is considered on break for that period. Parents can register children for single days or the entire period. Fees will apply for days attended. We will announce when registration opens and its duration for each period.
The upcoming fall break is from Thursday, October 24 to Monday, October 28, 2024. Registration opens September 26 and closes October 10. Registration is binding.
Children must be registered separately for these periods:
- All weekdays between Christmas and New Year's
- All weekdays of Holy Week (the week before Easter)
- All weekdays during primary school fall and winter breaks (as per the approved Reykjavík City primary school calendar)
To register children for these days, parents or guardians must complete a form with the preschool director for each period within the registration deadline.
