Traffic signal upgrade — Miklabraut-Klambratún and Miklabraut-Stakkahlíð — temporary traffic disruptions

Traffic lights

Reykjavík City and the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration will spend the coming days upgrading traffic signals at the Miklabraut–Klambratún and Miklabraut–Klambratún and Miklabraut–Stakkahlíð. This project aims to boost safety on city streets.

These upgrades are part of ongoing efforts to make the city's streets safer. Drivers should expect temporary outages and irregular light patterns while this construction is underway.

Crews will perform this roadwork on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, and Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026.

Workers will shut off the signals for about four hours each day during the project. Please drive carefully, follow all on-site instructions, and budget extra time when traveling through the area.

Thank you for your patience as we complete these vital improvements to keep traffic moving safely.
