Preschool children sing Dr. Gunni's songs at Eldborg this morning.

Today at Eldborg in Harpa, 1,300 preschool children, five music schools, 117 music students, and 73 orchestra students perform music by Dr. Gunni (Gunnar Hjálmarsson), arranged by Haraldur Vignir Sveinbjörnsson.

The children rehearsed Dr. Gunni's songs all winter and will perform a carefully chosen selection of his music in Eldborg hall. Excitement runs high among the children, who stood poised and proud throughout their performances, singing at the top of their lungs.

The children dressed up and poised on stage.

Different groups of children from preschools across Reykjavík City perform Söngvavor four times throughout the day. Performances are at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. Eldborg hall is packed with parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

The concerts remain a Children's Culture Festival staple, and it is truly special to see the children — most around five years old — sing with such feeling on stage while young musicians provide the accompaniment.

The children sing accompanied by young musicians from the city's music schools.
