Reykjavík City's Department of Service & Innovation has driven this progress, championing a user-centered approach with residents' needs as its guiding principle. Through a coordinated citywide campaign, Reykjavík City has made its services more accessible, efficient, and easier for both residents and staff to navigate.

In its official statement, the selection committee noted that Reykjavík City's success stems not from isolated projects but from a systematic approach to public innovation—one that other municipalities and public authorities can use as a model and build upon.

"This is truly exciting news and meaningful recognition of the exceptional work our department's staff has dedicated itself to over the years—developing and continually improving services for residents," said Óskar Sandholt, Director of Reykjavík City's Department of Service & Innovation.

The award was presented today at Public Sector Innovation Day.
