To mark the inscription of Icelandic swimming pool culture on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage, artist and author Rán Flygenring presents an exhibit and bathing illustration workshops at three Reykjavík swimming pools in collaboration with Reykjavík City.

The exhibit draws from Rán's book, "Sketching Bathing in Iceland," in which she captures Icelandic bathing culture through illustration. One summer, Rán traveled extensively around the country, immersing herself in pools, lagoons, and natural hot springs, documenting the experience through drawings.

Selected illustrations from the book now adorn the windows and entryways of Vesturbæjarlaug, Sundhöllin Reykjavík, and Dalslaug in Úlfarsárdalur. The exhibit runs through the end of May, giving swimming pool visitors a chance to explore the country's pool culture from a fresh artistic perspective.

Alongside the exhibit, Rán hosts two swimming illustration workshops for water enthusiasts of all ages during the Children's Culture Festival, encouraging participants to creatively capture their own pool experiences. The first workshop takes place at Dalslaug on Wednesday, April 22, and the second at the Adventure Palace in the Reykjavík City Library at Gerðuberg on Saturday, April 25th

Everyone is welcome!
