A packed lineup for Fishermen's Day
Fishermen's Day celebrations kick off on Sunday, June 7th Grandi will serve as the main festival hub, with events also hosted at other sites across the city.
Since 1938, the holiday has honored Iceland's seafarers and the crucial role the fishing industry plays in the nation's public life.
Across the country, communities celebrate with church services, rowing competitions, and memorial ceremonies to lay wreaths for fishermen lost at sea. Coastal towns and villages host family festivities and entertainment that reflect Iceland's deep connection to the sea and maritime culture.
Reykjavík will feature a full day of diverse entertainment for this family holiday.
BMX stunt riders, Bjørnis the Fire Bear, pier acrobatics, unusual fish displays, Húlla Dúlla, Íþróttaálfurinn, and Stephanie from Lazy Town are among the many highlights.
Visitors can board and explore the freezer trawler Viðey, which will be docked at the pier. Sea rescue demonstrations, a rope bridge, and live music.
