Notice regarding Sæborg Preschool
Due to scheduled construction at Sæborg Preschool at Starhagi 11, openings created by older children starting school this fall were excluded from the main fall 2026 preschool enrollment.
Construction delayed
The City has decided to postpone the project, meaning these preschool openings will now be available to families. Families who originally intended to apply to Sæborg during the main enrollment period, but changed their preference and received an offer elsewhere, can email innritun.leikskolar@eykjavik.is to reapply to Sæborg.
Requests to change a preschool application must be submitted by April 30. The city will offer available openings in accordance with the Rules on Preschool Services. Staff process enrollment by ID number, prioritizing the oldest child first, subject to availability.
Applications submitted before the main enrollment period began on March 2 will receive priority over those received during the frozen allocation period, as well as any submitted after the waitlist freeze was lifted on April 15. If these changes create openings at other preschools, staff will extend offers in accordance with the Rules on Preschool Services.
