A new fee schedule for Reykjavík City swimming pools, the geothermal beach, and the Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo takes effect May 5th These changes are designed to make regular use more affordable and simplify access for visitors.

Lower-cost annual passes

The adult annual pass for Reykjavík swimming pools drops 29% — from 48,000 króna to 34,000 króna — making it the most affordable pool annual pass in the capital area. For a two-parent family, that translates to savings of at least 28,000 króna per year. Reductions extend to other popular attractions as well. The children's annual pass for the Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo falls 77%, from 17,600 króna to 4,000 króna, while the adult annual pass drops 60%. The annual pass for the geothermal beach is reduced by 21%.

Changes for children and young people

One key change is that all children and young people ages 17 and under with legal residence in Reykjavík will receive free access to swimming pools and the geothermal beach. Previously, 16- and 17-year-olds were required to pay.

To improve safety and oversight, registration will also be introduced for children and young people. Children ages 10 and older may visit the pools on their own, but must be registered and carry an access card. Access cards are available as either a physical card or a digital card on a mobile phone. An ID number must be provided when applying for an access card at the pool's front desk.

Reykjavík City covers the cost of the first access card and annual fee for Reykjavík residents ages 10 to 17, meaning young people bear no out-of-pocket cost for their visits. The updated fee schedule applies to all other visitors.

Alongside these changes, annual pass prices are dropping and new subscription options will be available at the swimming pools, the geothermal beach, and the Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo, giving regular visitors a more affordable way to enjoy these services.

Visitors are encouraged to review the new fee schedule and access arrangements on the Reykjavík City website or by speaking with staff at the front desk.
