New head of the building division
Silvá Kjærnested has been appointed head of the Building Division at the Office of Planning and Construction within Reykjavík City's Department of Environment & Planning. Her hiring is part of ongoing organizational changes designed to create shorter chains of command, improve efficiency and provide better services to residents and stakeholders.
Silvá is an engineer with a master's degree in civil engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and a bachelor's degree in environmental and civil engineering from the University of Iceland. Over the past 11 years, she has gained extensive experience in construction, including working as a fire safety design engineer at Verkís and as a project manager at the Housing and Construction Authority. In recent years, she has worked at ÖRUGG engineering firm, including serving as quality manager.
Silvá is the third head of division hired at the Office of Planning and Construction under the new organizational structure, advancing the goal of more efficient case processing and improved services in this area.
