Over the past several days, residents have turned out in large numbers for education sessions on online fraud and domestic abuse. These gatherings are part of an ongoing education series for older adults, offered through a partnership between the Capital Area Police and the Reykjavík City Department of Welfare.

The City has hosted these events at community centers and assisted living apartments throughout the city. Meetings have also taken place at Sléttan, a Hrafnista-operated facility where Reykjavík City supports social activities.

Police representatives lead the presentations covering online fraud and domestic abuse. Eva Lind Vestmann, a social worker specializing in older adult affairs, attends each event to offer counseling and answer questions.

Every meeting has drawn a strong turnout and sparked lively discussion. These topics clearly resonate deeply with attendees, highlighting a vital need for open conversation and education.

Upcoming sessions will take place at the following locations:

  • Árskógar 4, Thursday, March 26, at 10 a.m.
  • Hvassaleiti 56–58, Monday, March 30, at 1 p.m.
  • Bólstaðarhlíð 43, Tuesday, March 31, at 10 a.m.
  • Hæðargarði 31, Tuesday, March 31, at 1 p.m.

Anyone seeking more information or education can contact the police by calling 112 or visiting https://www.112.is/.

Residents can also contact a Reykjavík City counselor specializing in older adult affairs.
