Changes to Kvosin land-use plan
Reykjavík's Environment & Planning Council has approved for public comment a proposed change to the Kvosin land-use plan covering lots 8-10, 12, 12a and 14 on Austurstræti. The proposal now goes to the City Executive Council for final approval.
The change modifies the permitted use of the buildings, allowing residential units on the top two floors – the 4th and 5th floors – where offices were previously located. Offices will still be allowed on all upper floors.
Exterior changes in consultation with Cultural Heritage Agency
The proposal allows specific exterior changes to the buildings, including adding balconies at selected locations and modifying dormer windows. All exterior changes must be made in consultation with the Cultural Heritage Agency of Iceland, and main architectural drawings must be submitted to the agency for review.
Additionally, the plan includes provisions to protect views over restaurant outdoor areas facing Austurvöllur.
During its review, the council considered a memo from Myrra acoustic studio, a report from Reykjavík Public Health, and input from the Cultural Heritage Agency of Iceland.
