Virtual water aerobics at Sundhöll Reykjavík
A new type of fitness program, virtual water aerobics, debuted this morning in the indoor pool at Sundhöll Reykjavík.
The program, also known as Hydrohex, is open to everyone and available every day of the week. Classes range from light, fun exercises to challenging, high-intensity workouts.
Exercises for everyone
What makes virtual water aerobics different? Instead of a live instructor, you're guided by a video on a large screen in the indoor pool. Each class focuses on a different area: strength, endurance, flexibility, or dance. You can find class schedules on Facebook, the info screens at the front desk and the pool’s website
The pool's existing, instructor-led water aerobics classes will continue as usual.
Fun and energizing
Snorri Örn Arndalsson, the pool's director, says he's excited to offer a more diverse program. "We're incredibly thrilled to bring a new type of water aerobics here. Hydrohex is an exciting innovation that's been a huge success in other Nordic countries, and it allows our diverse visitors to find a workout that's right for them. Classes are free with admission, and guests can join both scheduled classes and open sessions. Several of us have already tried it, and we can tell you—it's a blast and super energizing!" says Snorri.
The current schedule runs through August. On September 1st, the winter program begins with regular classes offered throughout the week.
