Thank you for using the compost!

Compost is a powerful soil enhancer. The response was positive, but the containers have now been removed. The compost is partially produced from food waste that residents collect in bins at their homes.

The people of Reykjavík have welcomed the free compost that has been available at seven recycling drop-offs in Reykjavík since April. Residents have embraced this opportunity and used the compost for their spring projects, but the containers have now been removed for this year. Compost is still available at Sorpa recycling stations.

The compost is made from food waste, and using compost helps support nutrient cycles that benefit the environment, climate and economy. Thank you for sorting food waste and using compost.
