Ten Reykjavík children's artworks selected for international art competition

At the Imagine Forum, the mayor recognized the best artworks.

Peace is a key issue for children and other residents around the world. Since 2023, children in Reykjavík have participated in an art competition for primary school students in member cities of Mayors for Peace.

"What Peace Means to Me."

The competition's theme was "What Peace Means to Me."
At an international peace conference in Reykjavík at Veröld, House of Vigdís, last Friday, officials announced which works were selected as Reykjavík City's entries in this international children's art competition. The artworks were displayed there and the mayor presented awards for the best pieces. The winning artworks will advance to the international art competition.

Participants are ages 6-15 and live and/or attend school in Reykjavík. The competition had two age groups: ages 6-10 and 11-15.

This year, seven schools in Reykjavík submitted a total of 59 artworks.

Winning artworks in the 11-15 age group:
