Snow clearing and deicing efforts underway
Reykjavík City winter services crews have been working since late last night, clearing routes for Strætó Public Transport. Around 4 a.m. this morning, crews began clearing snow on major roads and the pathway system.
Approximately 30 vehicles are now clearing snow across all service areas – on streets, pathways, and plazas. More vehicles will be deployed as needed, with the main priority being to keep the city's main routes passable.
Continued snowfall is forecast for today, and a yellow weather warning will take effect at 2 p.m. Winter service teams will remain on duty throughout the day and into the evening.
Officials advise travelers to use caution, allow extra travel time, and monitor road conditions.
