Róbert Marshall hired as political advisor to the mayor
Róbert Marshall has been appointed political advisor to Mayor Heiða Bjarga Hilmisdóttir. Róbert is a former member of parliament whose career spans politics, media, and mountain guiding.
Róbert served as the government's public relations officer for most of 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. He worked in media for several years and served as an advisor to the Minister of Transport before entering Parliament in 2009.
Róbert is the former chair of the Icelandic Press Association and former director of news at 365 Media. He worked in fish processing, net making, and fishing in the Westman Islands and graduated from the secondary school there.
While in Parliament, his roles included parliamentary group chair, chair of the General Committee, and chair of the Icelandic delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. He also served on the Environment and Transport Committee, the Þingvellir Committee, and the Nordic Council.
Róbert begins his role at the Office of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer today.
