A new opinion poll among Reykjavík City employees shows that 88% are satisfied with their jobs. Results show that overall, employees view Reykjavík City as a positive and ambitious workplace with a strong reputation. Employees enjoy a positive work environment and appreciate their workplace flexibility, with 94% believing their work makes a positive impact on society.

The city participated in the Institution of the Year survey conducted during November and December of last year. Of the 35,000 participants who received the survey, 17,383 responded, including 5,534 Reykjavík City employees.

The survey results are overwhelmingly positive, showing improvement in 9 out of 10 areas for the city. Employee stress levels have decreased, with 88% of Reykjavík City staff reporting job satisfaction. Additionally, 90% believe all employees receive equal treatment regardless of age, gender, origin, sexual orientation, religious or philosophical views, and 88% express pride in their workplace.

Employee satisfaction with management is high, as 83% believe their workplace is well-managed, 86% express complete trust in their managers, and 86% report receiving support and encouragement from their immediate supervisors.

Since 2005, Reykjavík City has regularly assessed employee attitudes toward the work environment, communication, and management practices, using these insights to enhance the workplace for its talented and ambitious workforce. While the survey results demonstrate that current initiatives are successful, there remain opportunities for further improvements based on the findings. Upcoming workplace presentations will share site-specific results with employees, establish goals, and develop action plans.
