Opera Days begin today
The music festival Opera Days starts Thursday, Oct. 16 and runs through Oct. 26. The festival offers about 40 events featuring around 200 artists from around the world.
Opera Days is one of Reykjavík City's City Festivals and is now in its eighth year.
The festival aims to present high-quality and diverse events at both conventional and unconventional venues; support innovation and experimentation; strengthen career opportunities for singers and their collaborators; encourage domestic and international partnerships; and welcome both new and longtime audiences.
The festival emphasizes collaboration and community engagement. Opera Days is not just an opera festival but celebrates all forms of classical vocal music, since classical singers perform many different types of music. The festival includes numerous soloists, nine choirs and chamber ensembles throughout the capital area and surrounding regions.
Organizers are committed to offering a varied program for all age groups, including family events, elementary school visits, premieres of new works, and much more.
