Visual artists are invited to apply for prequalification in a closed competition to create public artwork at Reykjavík’s Orkan Site. Reykjavík City and local property owners are collaborating to commission public art that enhances the urban environment, with a total budget of up to 32 million króna.

The Orkan Site is bordered by Suðurlandsbraut, Grensásvegur, Ármúli, and Dalsmúli. The competition area includes the buildings, their courtyards, and the surrounding landscape.

The Reykjavík Art Museum oversees the competition, which follows the competition rules of the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists (SÍM)—a closed competition with open pre-selection. A selection committee will shortlist three to five visual artists to advance to the second phase of the competition.
