Endurvinnslan and SORPA have agreed to close the bottle and can return service at SORPA's recycling center in Jafnasel. This closure is now in effect.

The decision stems in part from uncertainty over the future of SORPA's recycling center at Dalvegur. This summer, the Kópavogur town council approved postponing the closure of the Dalvegur facility until Feb. 1, 2026. A site for a new recycling center to replace the Dalvegur facility has not yet been found, making it necessary to increase capacity at other SORPA locations to serve residents and operators in the capital area.

Customers who used the Jafnasel bottle return are advised to use the Endurvinnslan locations at Dalvegur 28 and Knarrarvogur 4, or the Green Scouts' facility at Hraunbær 123. In addition, a new SORPA recycling center is scheduled to open at Lambhagavegur in the summer of 2026. A bottle and can return service is planned for that facility.
