Students at Hagaskóli organize the annual charity day Gott Mál (Good Cause), where they raise money for worthy causes by selling baked goods, other food and merchandise, and hosting all kinds of fun activities. Today they presented the proceeds, 4.4 million króna, to representatives of Iceland-Palestine and Ljósið.

In recent years, students have created a tradition of choosing one domestic cause and one international cause to support. This year, students chose to support both children's and youth programs at Ljósið and children in Gaza. The total amount raised is 4,400,000 króna, which will be split equally between these organizations.

Good deeds can change others' lives for the better

In a brief address, Ómar Örn Magnússon, the principal of Hagaskóli, mentioned that while the fundraising amount was important for these organizations, the project's purpose is also for students to experience firsthand how important it is to do good in the community and to realize that good deeds can change others' lives for the better. Students were also praised for organizing the event, which ran very smoothly last week.
