First phase of land-use plan for Leirtjörn Vestur announced
Reykjavík City has announced the first phase of a new land-use plan for Leirtjörn Vestur. The plan outlines the development of a diverse, mixed residential area, with an emphasis on proximity to nature and Sustainable Drainage Systems.
In the first phase, lots, streets, and municipal land will be allocated to holders of preliminary land allocations. The Seniors Housing Association will be allocated grounds for development, and the plan also includes an apartment complex for Félagsbústaðir Social Housing. About 75 residential units will be built in this phase.
The full development will include approximately 330 residential units, 100 nursing care units, a community center, and a preschool, plus a shared public parking garage. The plan also designates space for the future development of services, such as a nursing home, service center, or preschool.
Neighborhood Days begin next week in Grafarholt and Úlfarársdalur, during which Mayor Heiða Björg Hilmisdóttir will visit the district. Residents will have the opportunity to discuss upcoming projects, including the new land-use plan for Leirtjörn.
