Christmas City in the holiday spirit

Beautifully decorated Austurvöllur
Austurvöllur decorated for Christmas

The Christmas City Event Fund awarded 26 grants to artists who will entertain shoppers and visitors in the city center during Advent.

Choral music, accordion music, Christmas magic, and brass performances will echo through the city center, helping get everyone into the holiday spirit.

Yule lads will be roaming, and the troll Tufti and family will play every weekend until Christmas. Christmas elves will appear here and there, with activities for all ages. Most events will be offered on weekends and the last days before Christmas. New additions to the Christmas City are constant. People are encouraged to enjoy the city during Advent. Everything is free and everyone is welcome.

Christmas lights illuminate Austurvöllur

500,000 lights and 50 kilometers of strings of Christmas lights now decorate Christmas City and are sure to put everyone in the holiday spirit. A diverse program will be available in Christmas City, at museums, in Elliðaárdalur, and at the Reykjavík Family Park & Zoo throughout Advent, with something for everyone to enjoy.

The Yule Cat is in place, and Grýla and Leppalúði have joined in greenhouse at Lækjartorg.

The lights on the Oslo tree at Austurvöllur, which holds a special place in residents' hearts, will be lit on the first Sunday of Advent, Nov. 30, marking the beginning of Advent.
