Busy neighborhood days in Grafarholt and Úlfarsárdalur

Neighborhood Days with Heiða Björg began in Grafarholt and Úlfarsárdalur last week and were successful.

Mayor Heiða Björg Hilmisdóttir toured extensively throughout the neighborhood, meeting with parent association representatives, visiting schools and other city workplaces, greeting morning swimmers at Dalslaug, meeting with Fram officials and chatting with residents.

The mayor was briefed on the activities at Dalskóli in Úlfarsárdalur and Ingunnarskóli and Sæmundarskóli, which are located in Grafarholt.

At Reykjavík City Library, city librarian Pálína Magnúsdóttir and division head Unnar Geir Unnarsson welcomed the mayor. The library is excellent for avid readers, but it also serves as a community center offering space for knitting clubs, podcast studios and recording studios, among other amenities.

She also met with community organizations and sports club officials. Fram has outstanding facilities, and the mayor also met with officials from Reykjavík's disc golf club and toured the club's unique course in Grafarholt. She was also given a quick lesson in disc golf throwing.

The company Vaxa invited the mayor to visit and tour their operations.

Heiða Björg also toured the operations of the company Vaxa. Andri Guðmundsson described the company and led a tour of the facility, which grows herbs, lettuce and sprouts.

The mayor then invited residents for a walk and discussion at Reynisvatn, where they discussed various issues concerning neighborhood residents.

Heiða Björg was pleased with the Neighborhood Days and said the visit provided her with a unique opportunity to learn about the neighborhood and meet residents.
