Applications open for grants for projects and events in Summer City
Visit Reykjavík Arts & Culture

The goal of Summer City is to enhance daily life and culture in Reykjavík’s city center and support local shops, restaurants and other services by encouraging residents and visitors to enjoy everything the city center has to offer.
In recent years, the Summer City event fund has supported many exciting activities downtown, including food events, vegetable markets, outdoor concerts and other music events, dance performances, yoga in green spaces, and many other activities that contribute to a vibrant urban environment and support local businesses.
Main conditions for support:
- Projects should bring life to the city and highlight the diversity of the downtown area. Events taking place in squares and green spaces such as Káratorg, Óðinstorg, Vitatorg, Bernhöftstorfa, Lækjartorg, Ingólfstorg, Hlemmur and Hljómskálagarður are especially encouraged, as are events appealing to young visitors.
- The project should ideally be a collaborative effort between at least two parties.
- Projects must take place between June 18, 2025 – Aug. 22, 2025.
- The event should be open to many and free for participants.
Building renovations, interior or exterior, will not be funded, nor will marketing for individual businesses. Grants for Culture Night events are not available from this fund, but applicants are directed to Landsbankinn's Culture Night Fund, which will be announced later.
The application deadline is May 15, 2025
The maximum grant available is 500,000 króna.
