Officials calculated the ratio of studded to non-studded tires in early March following a recent count. The data shows that 40% of vehicles in Reykjavík use studded tires, while 60% use other varieties.
This figure represents a slight drop from the 43% recorded in January.
Counts in the past years
At the same time last year, the ratio was 38% on studded and 62% on non-studded.
Two years ago, the rate sat around 40%, compared to 41.5% three years ago and 41% four years ago.
The usage rate has remained consistent at this time of year over the past four years, holding steady near 40%.
The next count is scheduled for mid-April.
