Search for new space for Konukot
Reykjavík City is seeking suitable space for Konukot – Shelter for Homeless Women, which provides emergency housing for homeless women. The current space is unsuitable and there's an urgent need to find a new location for the operation.
Konukot is one of three emergency shelters in Reykjavík. The Root – Association for Women's Welfare operates Konukot under a service contract with Reykjavík City. Konukot meets the basic needs of women who seek help there, providing shelter, hygiene facilities and food. The shelter is open from 5 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next morning. It offers hot evening meals and light breakfast, and women can wash clothes and use hygiene facilities.
The space should ideally be centrally located in the city and be comfortable and well-maintained. It must also have good accessibility, including for disabled people. The space must be at least 350 square meters. It must be possible to set up accommodations for at least 12 residents, staff facilities for 2-4 employees, plus common areas.
