Building lots in Vesturbugt put out to bid again
Development rights for up to 177 homes in the heart of the city by Reykjavík's old harbor have been put out to bid with a deadline of July 5. In addition to homes, the development rights also include commercial and service space.
The advertisement on Reykjavík City's website shows how space is divided between residential units, commercial and service space, plus basement areas. Félagsbústaðir Social Housing has purchase rights for 7 homes on each lot.
At Hlésgata 1, up to 110 homes may be built in 2-5 story buildings. Total building area on the lot is 17,120 square meters.
At Hlésgata 2, up to 67 homes may be built in 2-4 story buildings. Total building area for that lot is 10,368 square meters.

The previous contract for development rights in Vesturbugt was terminated because construction was excessively delayed. Following the contract termination, minor changes were made to the previous land-use plan, including dividing the lot in two. Bidders now have the option to bid on one lot or both.
