An informational meeting about the environmental assessment plan for changes to the Reykjanesbraut-Bústaðavegur intersection related to CityLine was held Wednesday, March 29 at Reykjavík City offices.
The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, working with Reykjavík City and Transport for the Capital Area, plans to modify the Reykjanesbraut and Bústaðavegur intersection. Part of the construction involves developing the CityLine route between Vogabyggð and Stekkjarbakki. The purpose is to support all forms of transport, reduce traffic delays during peak hours, and improve road safety. The construction falls under the Transportation Charter.
At the meeting, possible solutions for the intersection and CityLine connections were presented, along with priorities for the upcoming environmental assessment of these solutions.
In addition to representatives from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, Reykjavík City and Transport for the Capital Area, the meeting included representatives from CityLine and the engineering firm EFLA, which serves as a consultant for the proposals. The meeting was recorded and can be viewed on Reykjavík City's YouTube channel.
Berglind Hallgrímsdóttir from EFLA presented potential options and preliminary designs for the Reykjanesbraut-Bústaðavegur intersection and the CityLine connection from Vogabyggð to Stekkjarbakki. Public comment period for the assessment plan is open until April 27, 2023. The plan is available on the Planning Agency's website. Official statements may be submitted to skipulag@skipulag.is.
