Ellý Katrín Scholarship

The goal of the Ellý Katrín Scholarship is to foster further studies in environmental and climate change issues, thereby expanding future knowledge in the field. The scholarship is awarded for work on a master's project.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be engaged in graduate-level studies related to environmental and/or climate change issues.

About Ellý Katrín
Ellý Katrín Guðmundsdóttir, a lawyer, served Reykjavík City for nearly 20 years, initially as Head of the Environmental Agency, then as Head of the Department of Environment and Transport, and finally as City Secretary.
Ellý Katrín was a pioneer in the field of environmental and climate change issues within the city. She led the integration of transportation and environmental issues and participated in international urban climate initiatives, leading projects that introduced new dimensions to the city's environmental efforts. As a result, Reykjavík City established its initial goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Numerous sustainable development projects were undertaken under Ellý's leadership, providing inspiration and a strong example for her colleagues.
