About Domus Vox
Domus Vox Vocal Academy was founded in the fall of 2000 by Margrét J. Pálmadóttir, a singer and choir director. The school is unique for its choir activities for girls and women and their collaboration through extraordinary concerts.
The solo department of Domus Vox serves students both in and outside the choirs, from preschool age to adulthood. The school offers robust programs for children and adolescents, providing the essential foundation for participating in singing as individuals or in groups.
The basis of the curriculum includes the main national music school curriculum, alongside Margrét's years of choir experience. Every child should find a path to continue singing lessons into adulthood. Students regularly perform both within the school and externally in various-sized concerts.
To achieve these goals, the following departments operate at the Domus Vox singing house:
Vocal training:
- Preparatory studies - Singing preparatory school for choirs 1 and 2, ages 4-12
- Basic level - adolescent level for ages 12-14, beginner level for ages 14 and up
- Intermediate level - For ages 15 and up
- Advanced level - For ages 18 and up, culminating in a public concert
- Church division (Aurora) - A chamber choir within Domus vox
- Courses - Creative singing activities in various musical styles
- Private lessons on vocal cards - open to all ages
- Singing preparatory school - for girls aged 4-7
- Reykjavík Girls' Choir - for girls aged 7-18
- Aurora - For women aged 18-29
- Cantabile - a women's choir for those aged 50 and up.
- Vox Feminae - a women's choir for those aged 25 and up
- HappyHour Choir - a women's choir for ages 25-40
