Passenger transport vehicle restrictions

The purpose of the vehicle restrictions is to reduce traffic in the heart of Reykjavík, ensuring a harmonious coexistence among residents, the tourism sector, and visitors.

What passenger transport vehicles?

The restrictions apply to vehicles over 26 feet (8 meters) in length and all passenger transport vehicles as defined in Article 9 of the Passenger and Freight Land Transport Act (No. 28/2017). This means the restrictions include passenger transport vehicles that carry fewer than 9 passengers, such as specially equipped vehicles for mountain tours, for example. These are vehicles used in commercial operations related to tourism.
