Street Food Festival in Hljómskálagarður
The Street Food Festival will be held for the fifth time from July 19 to 21 in Hljómskálagarður.
The festival is Iceland's largest food event. It aims to offer new and exciting culinary experiences in Summer City Reykjavík.
The number of food trucks have increased in recent years. This year, about 30 food trucks and stalls will participate. The festival began in 2019, attracting 15,000 visitors to Hljómskálagarður. Last year, about 50,000 people came to enjoy good food and drinks. Even more are expected this year.
The event will feature music, playground equipment, and bouncy castles for children. It's a family-friendly event with something for everyone.
The festival hosts the "Best Street Food in Iceland 2024" competition. The winner will represent Iceland at the largest street food competition in the world, the European Street Food Awards. The competition takes place in Germany in late September. There, 19 countries will compete for the best street food in Europe. Silli kokkur, winner of "Best Street Food in Iceland 2022," competed internationally that year. He placed second overall and first in the burger category.
