Let´s show consideration and patience

Covid-19

""

The frontline staff of the City of Reykjavík who provide essential services, are under enormous strain during these demanding times.  They make sure that our waste is disposed of, the snow is removed of streets and walking paths, open areas are kept clean and safe, and that requests are being answered promptly over the phone or by e-mail.

Their work has been reorganized to meet all requirements in order to secure the safety of both staff and the general public, and to make sure that all necessary services remain intact at the same time.  This may not always be possible under the restrictions and security measures that are now in place in the fight to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Restructuring in the wake of the pandemic

The Department of Environment and Planning has restructured its ways of working to apply with guidelines and instructions from Civil Protection.  Therefore, services may be conducted differently and can be more time-consuming than usual.  People are kindly asked to show understanding and patience during these difficult times.

It is important to hold on to the joy in life, as studies have shown that positive emotions can boost the immune system according to the Director of Health.  Let’s guard our city together with politeness and understanding.  And thanks for showing consideration to our staff who carry out these important services.
