The exhibition is a part of the museum's sketch work of sorts, of the history of contemporary Icelandic art. The material world is the subject of a few chosen pieces from Reykjavík Art Museum's collection. Natural phenomena, man-made things and various materials are the foundation, based on characteristics, nature, meaning and value.
When pieces are bought by the museum, a certain choice takes place, reflecting on the diversity of art creation each time, but here we try to analyse even further the joint emphases, found in today's artistic melting pot.
