Swimming pools to stay open later on weekends this summer
Reykjavík's swimming pools will remain open until 10 p.m. on weekends from June 1 through Aug. 31, 2026, under a proposal to extend summer hours. The proposal won approval at last week's Culture and Sports Council meeting.
The goal is to improve services for residents and better align pool hours with the extended curfew for minors during the summer.
The proposal establishes a summer schedule reflecting the longer curfew for minors during the summer months. From May 1 to Sept. 1, a child 12 or younger may be outside until 10 p.m., while those ages 13 to 16 may stay out until
midnight.
