Registration opens for fall optional care days at preschool

Preschool registration for optional care days now occurs twice a year. The registration window runs Sept. 10-20 for the fall semester and Jan. 10-20 for the spring semester.

Fall semester optional care days coincide with the primary school fall break — Oct. 22, 23, and 26 — and the days between Christmas and New Year's, Dec. 28-30. Families needing City preschool services on these days must register their children separately. Registration happens through the Vala preschool application portal and runs Sept. 10-20.

Good to know:

  • Care on optional care days is voluntary.
  • If you want your child to attend, you must register them separately here. A 5,000 ISK daily fee applies.
  • Younger siblings receive a 50% discount, and the third child attends optional care days for free.
  • Unregistered children are considered on break.
  • You can register your child for individual days or all available days during the fall semester.
  • Payment is required for registered days, whether the child attends or not.
  • Registration is binding and only valid for registered days.
  • We will not accept registrations after the Sept. 20 deadline.
