Many passersby in Ártúnshöfði have noticed the vibrant new images decorating a building facade on Breiðhöfði. Artist Narfi Þorsteinsson is currently creating a large-scale mural in the area.

Narfi is well known for his visual art and murals. Among his most recognized works is the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts building at the corner of Rauðarárstígur and Laugavegur. His work frequently explores pattern, form, and repetition, and he has exhibited his artwork extensively both in Iceland and internationally. The Breiðhöfði mural is a collaboration between Narfi and fellow muralist Stefán Óli Baldursson. This artwork adds to the numerous pieces the two have created together in public spaces across the city, lending a bold, colorful character to the area as a new neighborhood takes shape.

Artwork that brings the area to life

Klasi initiated the project to energize the area while a new neighborhood is under development. Ártúnshöfði is on the cusp of major change, with new homes, commercial spaces, and services all in development. The artwork is part of a broader effort to create a welcoming, vibrant environment during the construction period—for residents, employees of local businesses, and anyone passing through Breiðhöfði.
