Mixtúra, the Creation & Information Technology Studio of Reykjavík's Department of Education & Youth, hosted its annual Education Camp yesterday, April 20, in partnership with the University of Iceland's School of Education. This year's event took place at the School of Education's new facilities at Saga.

The Education Camp serves as an informal gathering for staff working in preschools, primary schools, upper secondary schools, and recreational activities to share ideas, experiences, and projects while exploring diverse approaches to learning and teaching.

Diverse program

This year's program featured a broad array of projects centered on literacy, creativity, technology, and instructional methods. Presentations covered topics such as artificial intelligence in early childhood education, gamifying reading, podcasting in primary school, literacy in Icelandic Sign Language, the connection between outdoor learning and writing, varied approaches to science instruction in upper primary school, and digital citizenship education. Participants also discussed international robotics competitions and the use of 3D technology in schooling.

All presentations took place in an open space, allowing attendees to explore the projects, speak directly with presenters, and discover the wide variety of work happening across school and recreational activities.

Mixtúra hosts the Education Camp annually to support knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and professional development in education throughout Reykjavík.
