After the walk, the entertainment began with a Laugarlækjaskóli student performing "Fairytale" on the violin alongside friends from other neighborhoods. Páll Óskar then took the stage, energizing the crowd with a performance perfectly in tune with the spirit of diversity being celebrated.
Organizers emphasize that the pride walk provides a space to celebrate diversity and solidarity within the neighborhood. Through the event, they hope to reinforce the importance of everyone being free to be who they are — and that joy is found in that diversity.
Running to music under a rain of color
Tjörnin after-school programs hosted a lively and colorful rainbow run at Ægissíða and Klambratún. Open to children enrolled in the after-school programs, the event was designed to celebrate diversity and strengthen a sense of community.
As the children ran, staff showered them with brightly colored powder — a symbolic gesture of support for diversity and the joy of embracing who you are. Children from the Draumaland, Eldflaugin, and Halastjarnan after-school programs gathered at Klambratún, while children from Frostheimar, Selið, Skýjaborgir, and Undrland met at Sæborg preschool on Ægissíða. The run took place along the walking path from Sæborg to Faxaskjól, as well as at Klambratún, where children ran laps to music amid swirls of color.
After the run, the fun continued with ice cream, music, and bubble activities before everyone headed back to the after-school programs. The event also served as a send-off celebration, marking the close of the after-school programs' school year activities.
