A pilot project for infant-friendly swimming pools begins at Breiðholtlaug Pool in March, where ways will be tested to improve facilities and experiences for the youngest swimming pool visitors and their families.

Pilot project

The project aims to further enhance family-friendly settings in the city's swimming pools and ensure services evolve to meet user needs. The pilot project will run every Sunday in the indoor pool at Breiðholt Swimming Pool throughout March.

Higher temperature and infant toys available

At Breiðholt Swimming Pool, the indoor pool temperature will be raised to 35 degrees on  Sundays, floating and infant toys will be available, and special emphasis will be placed on creating a calm and child-friendly environment. Lessons learned from the project will inform the ongoing development of infant-friendly initiatives in the city's swimming pools.

Take the survey

Alongside the project, a survey will soon be distributed at the city's swimming pools where visitors are encouraged to share their feedback on the services and facilities for children and their families. If you have a child, are a child's guardian under 3 years old, or a close family member of a child who uses the swimming pool services, your participation is crucial.
